New Student Orientation is held each June and August for all incoming Freshmen and Transfer Freshmen Students. Students will attend either a one or two day session where they will learn more about The College of Engineering at The University of Arkansas, meet with an advisor to register for classes and prepare themselves for the year to come.

All New Students should register for Orientation at http://orientation.uark.edu/.

What to Expect

New Student Orientation is divided into two parts. First, students will take part in General Orientation where they will learn about life at The University of Arkansas. Second, students will join us for the College of Engineering Session where they will learn about the Engineering Academic Program and Academic Support Services. It will be during this College Session that students will be advised by Faculty and Staff in order to begin registering for classes.

Advising and Registration

Advising is done one-on-one during pre-assigned advising appointments. Students will have an opportunity to meet individually with an Academic Advisor to complete a course schedule and ask questions.

Due to federal privacy policy regulations, only students are allowed in advising areas. Parents are invited to attend a series of breakout sessions held in the Student Union during this time.

What to Bring

To ensure the orientation process is as beneficial as possible we ask that all New Students bring with them a few items.

  • UofA Student ID Number
  • UAConnect Username (this is the same as your UofA email address)
  • UAConnect Password
  • Any Orientation materials received from the U of A
  • A list of any AP exams taken (and any scores received on those exams)
  • Copies (official or unofficial) of any transcripts associated with college credit received

These items are all vital in the process of determining an appropriate first semester course schedule and in successfully registering for classes.
